Led by Carolina–born-and-bred chefs Patrick Best and Eugene Fritzler, Table 274 delights diners with dishes that favor fresh, local ingredients whenever possible. Lunch and dinner menus both feature sumptuous starters such as the roasted beet and farro salad, showcasing pickled golden and red beets and frisée, dressed to impress in a lemon-thyme vinaigrette ($7–$8), as well as spring onion soup served with toasted puff pastry and aged gryere. For a midday entree, try the grilled veggie and provolone artisan sandwich, an array of grilled seasonal vegetables and sweet pepper aioli tucked between slices of sweet brioche. Later, dusk tempts diners with large plates, including pan-roasted sea scallops complimented by local fava-beans, tomatoes and fennel salad, bacon lardon, and citrus vinaigrette ($21); family sides, such as fresh collard greens ($6); and a smattering of small plates, which compensate for their stature with big flavors as demonstrated in plates of brick-oven-fired oysters with spinach crème and tomato jelly ($9).

Chef Patrick Best Bio
Patrick Best was born and raised in the small town of Garner, North Carolina. He grew up cooking at a very early age. Chef Pat worked with many restaurants from classical French cuisines to hibachi restaurants while attending Appalachian State University. He soon realized that his passion was in the kitchen and not in the classroom. He moved to Charlotte to attend Johnson and Wales University to follow his love of cooking. Chef Pat took his skills to Disney’s MGM Studios after graduating. He eventually moved back to Charlotte and spent 4 years as the Sous Chef for Mimosa Grill. He owes his real life education to Executive Chef Tom Condron and Executive Chef Jon Fortes after working under them. This is where he learned the art of fine dining cuisine. His passion and interest for locality and sustainability started to grow. He feels he can incorporate all of his passions of food and sustainability practices with Table 274.
